This review is from: Roll Around Heaven: An All-True Accidental Spiritual Adventure (Paperback)
Adventure and spirituality are not two words you might normally link together. But this author, a travel writer, shows how spirituality can be adventurous. God can be fun! It makes sense that someone who loves to explore the universe which God created would ultimately stumble upon God Him/Herself. A loving, joyous, open, adventurous heart like the author has would start seeing God in her day-to-day surroundings and experiences. As the Beatitude says, “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God.”
I’ve come to realize that our spirituality is an expression of our individuality. We each have a style so to speak–an explorer/adventurer will find God to be an adventure. We need more books like this one that shows us spirituality can be fun. If we have infinite intelligence, power and creativity in our Partner, God, who is like our best friend and is always with us, shouldn’t we be having a much better time here on earth?
The author shows us how she was receptive to God’s guidance and companionship in her life on her travels and path. Our path won’t be exactly the same, but we can learn from hers–listen and be open to God’s messages and direction. I didn’t want this book to end and when it was over I wanted to start it all over again. It is a merry jaunt which gladdens the heart. And it will get you to recall how God has spoken to you in your life–what is your spiritual history as the holy Pig Farmer asked.
It makes sense that the divine Creator is creative with the stuff of our every day lives in answering prayers. As one of my favorite writers on spirituality wrote: Life is “Love’s divine adventure to be All-in-all.”
If you like the idea of spirituality being an adventure that you’re having with God and that it can be joyous and fun, you’ll absolutely love this book. I’d give it 10 stars if I could. It’s that original, fresh, lively, amusing and deep. Looking forward to a sequel. “  Oink-you, L. M. Keefer!
